Practice – 1

Title of the Best Practice – Health Services in Remote Tribal Area

Objectives of the Practice –

  • To provide health services in the Tribal areas.
  • To improve quality of life in the Tribal areas.
  •  Provide social and medical service in the Tribal areas to the needy one.
  • To promote Ayurveda in the Rural areas.

The Context –

In the rural area, poor health status of the people due to the lack of medical care facilities hampering the lifestyle of the tribal population and this results into ill effect on the socioeconomic level of the Rural India.

Ayurveda is a science of life and hence to provide holistic health services to the tribal people.

 Basic Medical health care services is needed in the tribal remote villages as non-availability of the health services facilities in those areas.

The Practice –

Every Second and fourth Sunday, medical camp is arranged in the tribal areas. This medical camp is organized in collaboration with Jan Kalyan Samiti. College PG students and Teaching faculties are involved in arranging this camp. Free medicines are provided to the poor needy peoples of the tribal village. Medical Advice on the health and hygiene is given to the peoples for creating awareness about good practices for a healthy life. Home door to door visits is done by our experts and special emphasis is given for woman and child health.

Evidence of success –

People from tribal areas have developed awareness and interest in the Ayurveda. Many Diseases such as skin disorders, infective diseases in the children have been significantly reduced. Improvement is seen in hygienic practices such as use of clean cloths, use of clean and pure drinking water, boiled water. Children have also developed practice of healthy personal hygiene habits.

Challenging issues –

Generally, this tribal villages situated in the remote location.

They have lack of health awareness and also lack of health facilities.

Tribal peoples have negligence about their health conditions

They are suffering from poor economic conditions.

Resources Required –

a) Trained health care professionals

b) Transportation facilitates including Ambulance services.

c) Availability of the require drugs and assistant staff for the dispensing the medicines.

d) Funding for to run the set up in the form of health care Centre

Practice – 2

Title of the Best Practice – Clinical Research Practices

Objectives of the Practice –

To create awareness of the research into the undergraduate, postgraduate students and Teaching faculties.To provide require facilities for the research to the students and Teaching faculties. To encourage students for research publication and stimulate for research patent applications.  To motivate Students, Faculties for submission of the research proposals to the Central and State Govt Universities and other Non Govt organizations.

The Context –

Ayurveda is an Ancient Indian Science and its totally based on the classical Ayurvedic Text. Keeping the Ayurveda fundamentals intact, it is mandatory and obligatory to pursue scientific research in this probably the oldest system of medicine. Our college being as a Academic Institute and Academic research activities promote the students, faculties for advance knowledge which is useful in the society also. In the academic sector of Ayurveda ,there are very few institute which is working on the research and our college is one of them working  with research activities. The importance of research is ever growing even in the modern times.

 A separate platform of “Research Club” established in the college for encouraging the students, teachers for their participation in research work. The post graduate students from the institute doing MD in the respective subject of kaychikitsa, shalyatantra, panchakarma also conducting their thesis related experimental study, application of materials and methods, study design and statistics under the able guidance of  Research Dept .

The Practice –

The institution has created a separate department with well-equipped research instruments dedicated for research in the field of Ayurveda.

Organizing expert talks, workshop for the students and faculties based on the research subject.

Ayurved Patrika, monthly peer review magazine of the institute publishing various scientific articles.

The Institute is providing services- Organization and Conduction of clinical research.

Guidelines for preparation of standard protocols and synopsis Guidelines for Preparation of scientific research reports, dissertations Scientific and appropriate designs, novel ideas and references are provided to the concerned researchers for writing their synopsis, protocols, and reports. Undergraduate, post graduate students and Ph.D. fellows of Ayurvedic and other than ayurveda faculty, practitioners, ayurvedic drug manufacturers have taken benefit of this research Centre.

Students of all professionals those who are interested in learning, participating or who wish to start his or her research project individually are asked to become member of Research Club.

Evidence of success –

At central and state level, research projects of the college faculties submitted under the EMR i.e Extra Mural Research Scheme got financial funding from Ministry of Ayush, CCRAS New Delhi to conduct research.


Post graduate and PhD Students admitted in the college for pursuing degree submitting their Thesis to the university under the guidance of the research dept.

More than 46 professional clinical studies of ayurvedic medicine of renowned ayurvedic manufacturers in India have been completed at this centre.

All the PG students who are studying on the Thesis, clinical study, conducting standardization of the raw drug require for their study from the research lab with following all the protocol and disciplinary action

Challenging issues –

a) Lack of Infrastructure facilities.

b) Though Ayurveda is getting worldwide globalization now but still society awareness regarding adopting ayurvedic practices, lifestyle promoting measures awareness is missing due to the non-availability of Ayurvedic evidence Methodology.

Resources Required –

Research staff need to be experts in their respective fields.

Research Instruments, Equipments, space  availability for the research lab, Man power for the lab.

Practice – 3

Title of the Best Practice-Samhita Vachana

Objectives of the Practice-

To update the knowledge and group discussion on the topic mentioned in the classical text.

Concept to clinical understanding of Samhitas All the faculties presenting their views during the presentation on special topic, so interactions and implementation results into brainstorming knowledge enrich practice.

The Context-

An integration of the knowledge of modern analytical techniques with a border perspective for applications of Ayurveda principles can help in its wider acceptance globally.

There is an increasing need of proving and fostering the scientific basis of the principles of Ayurveda.

To keep this age-old valuable system of medicine, as a living tradition in future.

The Practice-

On every Tuesday of the month, Samhita vachana session is organized by the Samhita Dept.

All the faculties of different subjects gather in the classroom at 4.15 p.m. to 5.15 p.m.

E-Samhita reading is presented during the session and group discussion on the same shlokas or meaning of shlokas or topics in different point of view is discussed..

Evidence of success-

Samhita literally means put together, ,joined, a collection, and a methodically rule based combination of text. Samhita vachana gives fruitful results to practice the concept to clinical methodology among the Faculties and Students.

Practice – 4

Title of the Best practice- PG students Topic presentation

Objectives of the practice-

To inspires the PG students for topic presentation based on the clinical case studies successfully treated.

To increase the confidence level of the students for presentation at National and International seminar or conferences.

Group discussions on the presented topic and suggestions from the faculties enrich the knowledge of the students for clinical practice.

To understand the scientific topic how to be present and article to be published in peer review journals.

The Context-

Be aware of nonverbal communication. use body language that shows confidence.

Take time to think during your presentation.

Pay attentation to speak clearly so that your audience can easily understand your words..


The practice

On every Thursday of the month, PG students belong to kaychikitsa, shalyatantra and panchakarma department gathered together in the PG presentation hall of the Shalyatantra Dept in the afternoon at 4.00 p.m.

The selection of the topic or case to be presented is guided by the PG guide .

All the students in the rotatory manner have to present their topics under the guidance of there faculties.

All the faculties are requested to be present for this presentation and gives valuable suggestions.

Evidence of success-

PG students topic presentation gives fruitful results to practice the concept to clinical methodology among the Students.

PG student belong to kaychikitsa  dept presented there scientific paper in the international conference at UK.

Challenging issues-Nil

Resources Required

Interdisciplinary Experts talk to be invited for scientific based utility of the subject presented.

Research methodology and medical statistician require to evaluate the study design for the scientific publication at Index journal.

Practice – 5

Title of the Best Practice-Friday Meet of the Teachers

Objectives of the Practice

To update the knowledge and group discussion on the topic mentioned in the classical text.

Concept to clinical understanding of Samhitas to be practiced.

All the faculties presenting their views during the presentation on special topic ,so interactions and implementation results into brainstorming knowledge enrich practice.

The Context-

a ) On every Friday  of the month, Teacher meet session is organized .

b) All the faculties of different subjects gather in the Auditorium Hall at 4.15p.m. to 5.15 p.m.

The selected topic based on the Ayurveda classical text is presented by every faculty of different subject..

High Tea is offered after the session over.

Samhita vachana gives fruitful results to practice the concept to clinical methodology among the Faculties .

Knowledge shared by different subject faculties conclude the session with fruitful study discussion.

Other Practices implemented in the college –

Felicitation of the wards of the employee, Teaching, non-teaching faculties during the annual program as observed the achievements of their Son or Daughters.

Shabbos cards also given to the Teaching, non-teaching working staff for their best achievement in the service or to enhance the working professionals’ skills of the faculties and other staff.

School Health checkup camp organized at different times and Health awareness talk delivered at that time.
